International conference on climate change

On the occasion of the Conference of Parties (COP19) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Warsaw, CIDSE co-organised an International conference on climate change: Faith actors working towards climate justice. The conference focused on how local communities cope with climate change, how churches respond to it and on a discussion on what role faith actors and international organisations around the world play in shaping climate and energy policies that serve the most vulnerable. The conference included high-level political and Church speakers.

Creating pressure for ambitious EU climate pledges for 2030

Targeted Institutions:
 Council of the EU

The European Union needs to do more to ramp up climate mitigation ambitions by 2020 to increase our chance of staying below a 2°C temperature increase.  In the medium term, we need a path putting us on a way to at least 55% emissions reductions and strong binding targets for energy efficiency and renewables by 2030.
